A special day to remember
Those who've gone before;
Preserving our sweet liberty
We cherish shore to shore!
Many who gave their lives
So we might remain FREE…
Are celebrated on this day
With poppies and bright wreaths.
We call it "decoration" day
And march in big parades;
Carry flags and banners,
Complete with cavalcades.
When the end of May arrives,
Stop and take some time…
To reverently honor those
In whose shadow we now shine!
